The ORA Purple Plasma Staghorn grows is several shades of purple and green. Some of the amazing deep purple base with bright green polyps might even fluoresce under actinic lighting and can give the aquarium a stunning look during sunrise and sunset simulation.
The ideal conditions for the Acropora coral is an established reef aquarium with bright lighting provided by preferably intense metal halides. Growth rate for the purple plasma is greatly increased when it is kept under the right conditions: high pH, alkalinity and calcium levels, paired with nitrate and phosphate levels close to zero.
In addition to lighting and water quality, the ORA Purple Plasma prefers strong, intermittent water current.
Acropora corals benefit greatly from the addition of zooplankton which will supplement the nutritional needs fulfilled by photosynthesis.
This ORA Purple Plasma is starting to look really nice! Bright, bright, bright green against a deep purple creates a nice contrast in color for this coral. Hopefully we post another photo as this colony matures.
